As you may already know, this is one of our favorite places in the world. It’s where we lived for several years when we first left the U.S. back in 2017. And we still visit as often as we can.
That’s why we hosted our first two Leaps in Cuenca, and why we’re excited to host another one there.
Over the course of our 2-week Leap, we’ll explore Cuenca’s beautiful historic center, stroll through its vibrant neighborhoods, discover colorful markets, relax in inviting cafés, enjoy delicious local restaurants, and experience the slower pace of life that has made this UNESCO World Heritage city a favorite among travelers and expats alike.
Cuenca has so much to offer, but the destination is only part of the experience. The real magic happens through the friendships, conversations, shared meals, and spontaneous adventures that develop when a group of like-minded Turtles spends two weeks exploring together. Whether we’re wandering cobblestone streets, discovering a hidden café, or simply enjoying a long lunch with new friends, it’s these shared experiences that make every Leap so memorable.
Because accommodations are not included, you’re free to stay wherever best fits your travel style and budget. We’ll recommend an area after you sign up so we can all stay within easy walking distance of one another, making it simple to join the group each day while giving you the flexibility to choose the hotel, apartment, or Airbnb that’s right for you.

Cuenca is the perfect city for a two-week Leap. Its compact, walkable historic center, comfortable year-round climate, welcoming atmosphere, and relaxed pace of life make it easy to settle in, establish a routine, and experience the city beyond the typical tourist attractions.
Our Leap takes place in March, when daytime temperatures are typically in the upper 60s to low 70s°F (20–22°C). While you can expect a mix of sunshine and occasional afternoon showers, Cuenca’s famous “eternal spring” climate makes it comfortable for exploring on foot throughout the day. Bring a light jacket for the cool mornings and evenings, and you’ll be ready for just about anything.
Over two weeks, you’ll have time to discover Cuenca’s charming plazas, colorful markets, riverside walking paths, museums, cafés, and vibrant food scene. Unlike a fast-paced vacation, this Leap gives you the opportunity to slow down, build meaningful friendships, and experience why so many travelers and expats fall in love with Cuenca and keep coming back.
Amelia will organize activities for us most days, but we’ll also have a few open days since this is a 2-week Leap. Some costs are included (see below) and some are pay-as-you-go.
Since this Leap doesn’t include lodging, we’ll designate a meeting time and place to start each day. The details will be in the Events calendar inside the Leap space.

You’re also encouraged to arrive in Cuenca early and/or stay longer after the Leap ends. You’ll have access to the Leap space in the community so you can meet up with other members who also arrive early or stay late.
